One night she began her very first research on nail polish, and what she discovered was disturbing: many nail polish products contain ingredients that can be harmful to both the environment and our health. Driven by the desire to make a difference, she began a mission to create something better.
Two years and countless tests later, gitti nail polish was born, made with alternative and responsible ingredients. The result? Within two hours, the first batch sold out.
Today, gitti has become a global beauty brand known for its continuous innovation and sustainable formulas. From nail polish and nail care to manicure tools and makeup, gitti sets the tone in the industry with products that are both beautiful and conscious.
gitti stands for:
- Clean
gitti maintains a strict “no” list of more than 3,000 harmful, aggressive or controversial ingredients that they never use in their products. - Natural and plant-based
Their laboratories are constantly challenged to develop formulas with the highest possible concentration of ingredients of natural origin. All their products are vegan and PETA-certified, and contain the purest ingredients. - High performance
gitti combines durability with peak performance by creating innovative formulas. From using recycled materials to carbon-neutral shipping, they minimize their carbon footprint in every step of the chain. - Stringent standards
All their products meet formula standards that are even more stringent than current EU regulations. They achieve this through the use of our own advanced technology.
Gitti is free of: Formaldehyde-releasers (e.g. resin and donors), all animal ingredients (e.g. carmine), sulfonamides (e.g. ethyltosylamide), xylene, toluene, phthalates (e.g. dibutylphthalate), camphor, triphenylphosphate, triclosan, acetone, cyclic silicones, colophony/colophony, hydroquinone, diethylhexyladipate, synthetic fragrances, benzophenones, mineral oils/waxes, EDTA, microplastics (UNEP definition), ethanolamine, polytetrafluoroethylene, controversial mineral pigments (e.g. bismuth Oxychloride, Chromium Oxide Greens and uncertified Mica), parabens.
Unfortunately, it is still impossible to offer a 100% clean nail polish at this time. Hence below is gitti’s official statement on EU Regulation 2023/2055:
We confirm that all our existing and new products do not contain microplastics in the form of solid, hard-to-degrade synthetic polymers smaller than five millimeters in size (UNEP definition).
Specifically, we do not use microplastics as abrasives in rinse-off products, for example, or as glitter in our products.
Consequently, no gitti products are affected by the restriction that came into effect on Oct. 15, 2023, and all gitti products comply with EU market requirements.
Nail polish products contain synthetic polymers in the form of dissolved and soft polymers, as these are essential for adhesion to the nail and the function of the product. Right now, there are no alternatives. If used and disposed of according to our instructions, these synthetic polymers should not enter the environment.
We will closely monitor new updates regarding the definition of microplastics at the substance and product level, and we will make any necessary changes to our products within the specified timeframe.
